2. List some reasons that an artists would need to use observation when making artwork.
An artist uses observation almost everytime a piece of artwork is made. When an artists create a piece of work from their brains, say a fancy couch, it is coming from something they have already observed in their life time. An artist could create a work strictly from observation and draw or paint something while looking at an image or a model. An artist could use observation merely as inspiration. Observation is a critical part of art.
4. What are some reasons why artists make art?
Artists make art for several reasons. It could be to get something off of their chest, to put something that's been on their mind down on to paper, or just to make something original. Art could be a form of self expression for the artists, or a way to show the world their mind. It could be something thought provoking and deep, or something simple and literal. Art has many reasons or no reason at a, which is part of what makes Art, Art.
8. What was the warm up or sketchbook assignment that you learned the most from?
I definitely learned the most from drawing the different letters of the alphabet in sign language. I learned how to use observation to draw, how to depict the shadowing of the cracks and crevaces my hand makes, and how to proportion each finger to the size of my hand and other fingers. What helped me the most was that we did it multiple times, so I could progressively get better with my drawing and shading.
