Newspaper Art
The above image is a flower I made strictly out of newspaper (with the help of some wire). Doing this project, I learned how to conform the newspaper to what I want to create by using wire to keep it stiff, along with cardboard to be the backboard holding it together. The piece is successful because the newspaper stays upright and is perfectly seen as being a flower, and not some floppy mess. If I were to do it again I would better organize the petals and add some more. I would also paint it with water color so as not to completely cover up the newspaper, but adding color at the same time.
Land Art
The land sculpture/image is an Apex "A" constructed out of twigs and yellow leaves. By doing this project, I learned how to use my creativity when giving nothing to work with except my surroundings. I worked with the land to create something basic, but with nature as my limited materials. The piece is successful because we acquired enough leaves to fill in the A and the yellow makes it stand out against the land. If I were to do land art again I would fully spell out "APEX" to make it more visible by the people.
Clay Pinchpot Fish
This creation is a clay fish with the main body being two combined pinchpots. Using clay taught me how to properly score and slip so to better merge two separate piece of clay together. I also learned how to morph the clay into the desired shape/form. The piece is successful because the Pinchpot didn't collapse and the paint properly depicts that my fish is the one and only nemo. Next time if I did another fish I would add some texter to the fins and tail and give nemo scales to make it more lifelike. Also, i'd make sure the clay was smooth so there won't be any random instances of clay sticking off.
