The above images (in order) are my final piece, an in-progress picture, the art piece i was inspired by, and my mind map to plan out the project. I picked the piece to inspire me because the way the fingerprint was portrayed jumped out at me. The medium of the piece was acrylic paint, and metal, so I decided to create a fingerprint out of painted metal. The title of the piece is "Me", so i interpreted that and painted the paper clips my 3 favorite colors. My piece is my fingerprint made out of painted metal just like the piece I was inspired by.
I create Original Art
As one can see, my final piece and the piece I was inspired by are very different, but also very much similar. I created MY fingerprint out of bent paper clips and painted those paper clips with MY favorite colors. I took the ideas of creating a fingerprint out of metal and put my own spin on it with different organization.
I Take Risks
After i arranged the paper clips to form the fingerprint, I had to figure out how to make them stick to the paper. My first instinct was to hot glue them, but that would be too messy. Then I thought about stapling them. I wasn't sure if stabling them would work because they could just slide right out. I decided I had no other choice, but to try it. It ended up being very successful and completing the piece. It even provided a make shift outline for the fingerprint. The staples (unfamiliar) out did hot glue (familiar).
